The City of Altus held a groundbreaking ceremony Thursday at the site of the new City Complex on South Main. The building (artist rendering, inset) will be the new home of the City administrative offices, police station, municipal court and City Council chambers. The complex is the first of a group of MAPS projects approved by voters last August. Timberlake Construction Company of Oklahoma City was awarded an 8 million, 350 thousand dollar contract on June 17. The project is being funded by revenue bonds/notes backed by the City’s one and three quarters per cent special sales tax levies. On hand for the groundbreaking were local citizens, project planners and construction company representatives, as well as those seen holding shovels that include Altus City Mayor T.L. Gramling, center, with City Council members and state representatives to either side.
