Hobart man drowns at lake

Vincent Carl Tate, 43, of Hobart, drowned during a jet ski incident on Lake Altus/Lugert on July 4.

According to reports from the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, a storm came up about 5 p.m., making the water rough.

Tate was ejected from the jet ski during the storm, then rendered unconscious by an impact from the jet ski. Tate was wearing a life jacket.

The incident happened by the north shore area 3 of the lake.

Trooper George Hoyle of Troop W. of the Oklahoma Highway Patrol worked the accident, and was assisted by Trooper Anthony Linares, Trooper Michael Jewell, Trooper Brian Quinn, Troooper Chris Sherman and the Kiowa County Sheriff’s Department.
