Another scam has hit Altus. Local police report that there have been two incidents in which someone calls residents saying they are with a Federal Agency in Washington, D.C.

They have asked people several questions and tell them they have won a contest supported by the federal government. In one case, they told the resident he had won $450,000. They told the resident time was running out and he needed to send one percent of those winnings immediately and a check for $450,000 would arrive at his residence the next day.

Police say there is no federal contest and people should not respond to the call, and to not give out personal information when they don’t know for sure with whom they are dealing.
