Former Altus doctor Alexander Christian Miles, 51, was sentenced Thursday to five years in prison. Miles was accused of bringing his 14-year-old Cambodian bride to Oklahoma using false papers.

Acting U.S. Attorney Robert Troester said Miles was sentenced for “using a visa immigration document that contained false information to gain entry into the United States of a child under 18.”

In 2006, a federal judge dismissed the case, but prosecutors re-filed the charge. Miles’ attorney appealed the charges on double jeopardy grounds, but an appeals court panel upheld it.
