New doctor to join JCMH in January

At this week’s Jackson County Memorial Hospital Board of Trustees meeting, it was announced by Bill Wilson during his physician recruitment activity report that a new doctor will be joining the hospital. He announced that Dr. Nicholas Viyuoh, OB/GYN, has agreed to terms and has indicated he will join JCMH in mid January.

In other reports, Michelle Ford reported the outreach clinics contributed a total of 172 admissions and 41 outpatient surgeries to JCMH for the month of August. The Pediatric Clinic and Women’s Health Associates moved to their new location at 101 S Park Lane during the month of August.

Fixed Assets from Funded Depreciation and Designated Funds to Funded Depreciation were approved in the amount of $57,558.76.

The board approved the purchase of the budgeted medical/surgical beds in the amount of $95,000 as presented by Mrs. Bolding.

The board approved the 2009-2010 Infection Control Plan as presented by Mrs. Bolding.

Kay Bolding reviewed the second quarter patient safety report based on the 2009 National Patient Safety Goals.

Jim King reviewed highlights from the Performance Improvement meeting that was held Sept. 14. He also discussed the Electronic Discovery Rules that became effective in November 2008.

King also reported that JCMH ranked in the 94th percentile in the Press Ganey patient satisfaction report for the latest quarter. This is the highest ranking JCMH has ever received.

Wilson recommended to the board the delay of the employee merit increase until January 2010. This recommendation was made due to the current economy. After much discussion, the board approved the delay of the employee merit increase until January 2010.

The board approved moving the December board meeting from Dec. 28 to Dec. 21.

Dr. Richard Katseres, Chief of Staff, reported from the JCMH Medical Staff Executive Committee meeting that was held on Sept. 14. The Board approved the recommendations for:

1. Request Initial Appointment

a. Brian Cook, DO – Emergency Medicine

b. Scott Hough, MD – Emergency Medicine

c. Aaron Lane, DO – Emergency Medicine

d. Brent Mefford, MD – Emergency Medicine

e. Ousama Moammar, MD – Internal Medicine

f. Beverly Vavricka, MD – OB/GYN

Davidson presented the financials for the month of August which resulted in a net loss of $177,111 and a year to date net loss of $286,069.

Wilson gave the Management Report. The Steering Committee for the Strategic Plan met for their second meeting on Sept. 9 and will meet again in November with the JCMH Board of Trustees and the Medical Staff.

The closing for the funding from Arvest Bank to the Cancer Centers is scheduled for Oct. 30. Each of the hospitals will be reimbursed from Cancer Centers of Southwest Oklahoma for the construction of the facilities located on each campus.
