New home dedications are special to Habitat. They represent the fruition of many hours of hard work and comradery providing another family with affordable quality shelter. The new homes are blessed by pastor or priest and the family’s home church usually presents the new dwellers with a family Bible. Refreshments are served and an open house is held allowing people to see the results of the team effort. In Altus, many of the hard working Habitat volunteers are stationed at Altus Air Force Base.
Our Altus Habitat will hold a ground breaking ceremony on their seventh house in October. It will be located on a lot on Navajoe, north of Broadway. Currently the Lions Club is maintaining the lot for Habitat. A big thanks to all who are helping make Altus a better place.
