Mayor T.L. Gramling proclaimed the month of October to be Domestic Violence Prevention Month. The proclamation signed today is to remind the families and communities to be aware of the crime of domestic violence, which violates an individual’s privacy, dignity, security and humanity. Domestic violence is a crime punishable in either Altus Municipal Court or Jackson County District Court. Preventing domestic violence requires much more than regulations and programs, it requires a commitment on the part of all of us.
