Don married Mary Day on Aug. 12, 1950, in Las Cruces, N.M. To this union, four children were born. After the death of Mary, he married Eula Mae Delongchamp in December 2006.
His survivors include his wife Eula of Littleton; his brother, Ivan of Grand Junction, Colo.; his son, Mike and wife Jeannie; his daughters, Francis Morris and husband John, and Debbie Brzozowski and husband Ray; his son, Patrick and wife Dawn; and his grand and great-grandchildren, Chris, Anna, Susan, Darlene, Travina, Stephanie, Tom, Joel, Chris, Emily, Olivia, Evan, Jewlie, Lexi, Keygan, Allie and Lake.
Don was a long-time member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church of Altus, and most recently, Light of the World Catholic Church in Littleton. He was a Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus serving in almost all offices in his council and assembly. Don served over 22 years in the United States Army earning the Combat Infantryman Badge during World War II. He served in the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. Don worked for and retired from government Civil Service. After this, he was a crossing guard at Will Rogers Elementary School for 14 years. There was nothing more important to Don than his family, both the immediate and the extended family. He loved children and welcomed all to his home. Don was Dad or Papa to all.
A vigil service followed by a rosary will be held Thursday at 7 p.m. at the Prince of Peace Catholic Church. Celebration of Life Mass will be held Friday at 1 p.m. at the Prince of Peace Catholic Church with Father Tim Luschen, celebrant and Deacon Eulis Mobley assisting. Burial will be at Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
