Civic leaders from Altus Air Force Base and the Altus Chamber of Commerce Military Affairs Committee visited Colorado Monday and Tuesday for their annual civic leader tour.

The 16 Altus representatives went to Peterson Air Force Base, U.S. Northern Command (Northcom) and the U.S. Air Force Academy, all in or near Colorado Springs.

The group was given a briefing by Maj. Gen. John H. Bordelon, chief of staff of the NORAD headquarters on Northcom’s mission of homeland defense.

Brig. Gen. Tod D. Wolters, director of Air Space and Nuclear Operations, gave the group a briefing on the Air Force Space Command.

Lt. Gen. Michael C. Gould, former commander of Altus’ 97th Air Mobility Wing is now superintendent of the Air Force Academy and gave the group a presentation.

The group of 16 also got a U.S. Air Force Academy mission briefing before going on a guided tour.

While there, the group visted the aeronautical lab, sports facility, and the indoor track and baseball practice.
