According to reports from the Altus Police Department, six children, ranging in age from 7 to 12, were arrested for burglarizing a local policeman’s home.

According to Mike Turner of the Altus Police Department, an officer’s house in southeast Altus was reported broken into at 5:37 p.m. Wednesday. The officer was in the middle of moving from the residence when the break-in occurred.

Items taken were collectible knives, coins and the officer’s badges.

Turner said a neighborhood sweep was done, and after the interviews were complete, a parent of one of the children involved later contacted the police department.

“Most of the property taken was recovered and the six children involved were arrested and turned over to Juvenile Services,” Turner said.
