Museum of the Western Prairie Director, Bart McClenny, right, reviews the final copy of the historical calendar “When Greer County Was Old” with Doug Dalton, left, who originated the concept and design. The calendar is a fundraiser to support the Museum. The photographs will be on display and the calendar will be available during the Holiday Reception hosted by the Western Trail Historical Society at the Museum of the Western Prairie on Monday, Dec. 7, between the hours of 5 and 7 p.m. In addition to the photographs, the calendar features a timeline of significant historical events that occurred during the settlement of Old Greer County including the Presidential orders to Ft. Sill to forcibly remove settlers, establishment dates of post offices throughout the territory, court proceedings associated with the determination of the boundaries of Oklahoma Territory and more. The cover of the calendar is a reproduction of a painting by Loweta Chesser. Eddie Wilcoxen has also contributed two poems to the calendar. Everyone is invited and refreshments will be served.
