Christmas parade set for Sunday

There at 94 parade entries, as well as horse entries, in this Sunday’s 29th annual Altus Christmas Parade.

The theme for this year’s parade is “Christmas at Grandma’s”.

The parade will begin at 3 p.m., but float entries need to be at the college by 1 p.m. for judging. All other entries need to be there by 2 p.m.

The Parade Grand Marshals this year are Bob and Georgia Beers. This couple is being recognized for their community service. They will riding an antique car provided by Don Kizziar.

Prizes will be awarded to Float entries in 5 categories: Grand Marshall $300; First Place – School and Youth $200; First Place – Church $200; First Place – Civic & Commercial $200; First Place – Altus Air Force Base $200; and First Place – Antique Wagon $100.

The route for the parade runs from Western Oklahoma State College south on North Main Street and then will disband east on Commerce Street in downtown Altus. Horse entires can go west on Commerce.

The Altus Chamber of Commerce organizes the parade with Debbie Davis as Chairman. Masters of Ceremony for the parade will be Eddie and Joan Wilcoxen with KWHW Radio.

The parade is a community project with the Altus Chamber of Commerce, City of Altus, WOSC and Altus Air Force Base and other volunteers providing many needed services.
