Dale was born on Oct. 7, 1948, in Muenster, Texas, to E.M. and Odessia (Ensey) Landers. In 1949, they moved to the family farm South of Altus where he lived until his death. After graduating from Southside High School in 1968, he attended Cameron University, in Lawton, where he received his associate degree. On Jan. 13, 1984, he married Janie (Veach) Amox. After several years of farming, he joined the Oklahoma Department of Corrections in 1991, and later transferred to the Probation and Parole Division, retiring in December 2008. Dale enjoyed team roping, as the header, bulldogging, fishing, boating and traveling, but most of all he loved spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his father, he is survived by his wife Janie of the home; his mother, Odessia Landers of Altus; three children, Shandyll Landers and Kevin English of Blair, Justin Landers and wife Jamie of Altus and Jamie Lynn Landers and Scott Everett of Altus; four grandchildren, Katelyn (Pookie) Randolph, Jesse Stevens, Ty Stevens, and Maggie Landers; one brother, James Landers and wife Diane of Altus; one sister, Glenda Crouch and husband Rick of Altus; his mother-in-law, Betty Veach of Mangum; one brother-in-law, Wayne Veach and wife Sheryl and family of Norman; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were set for 10 a.m., today at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Rick Crouch officiating. Interment was to follow at the Hess Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home of Altus.
