Christmas Eve services at local churches

Several churches in Altus and the surrounding communities are planning special services for Christmas Eve.

Regardless of your religious affiliation or if you have no affiliation at all, Christmas is a time to share your life together with others. The church family at Martha Road Baptist Church invites the whole community to come celebrate the joy of Christmas together with them this Christmas Eve. Their Christmas Eve service will begin Thursday, Dec. 24, at 6:30 p.m. Refreshments will be served before and after the service. Childcare will be provided for younger children. Martha Road Baptist Church is located four miles north of Tamarack Road on Highway 283. The First Presbyterian Church of Altus will be holding a Christmas Eve Candlelight Service at 7 p.m. Thursday. The public is welcome to attend. Then church is located at Grady and Cypress streets.

The Highland Heights United Methodist Church will also have a Christmas Eve Candlelight and Communion Service at 5:30 p.m. It is open to the public. The church is located at 1911 N. Main

St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 721 N. Thomas St., will have Christmas Eve service starting at 10:15 p.m. with organ prelude and Holy Communion Rite II which will start at 10:30 p.m. A reception will follow in the parish hall. For more information, call 471-7629.

Emmanuel Baptist Church, 800 N. Forrest, invites all to a Christmas Eve program beginning at 6 p.m. with Christmas songs followed by The Christmas Story shared in Scripture and song. More Christmas songs will be performed followed by the pastor and deacons serving the Lord’s Supper before the lighting of candles. At the Blair First United Methodist Church, located at 300 East Main in Blair, a Christmas Eve Candlelight Communion Service will be held at 5 p.m.

The Elm & Hudson Church of Christ, 400 N. Hudson in Altus, will hold their Carpenter's Kitchen on Christmas Day, Dec. 25, from 12 noon to 1 p.m. for anyone who would like to attend.
