The Jackson County Commissioners met in regular session Monday at the Jackson County Courthouse. Following a call to order, the board approved commissioner Anthony Fixico as the new board chair (Resolution 2010-01) and commissioner Dale Dunn as the vice-chair (Resolution 2010-02). In a joint meeting with the Jackson County Excise Tax Board, the calendar for 2010 was approved. The Dec. 31 minutes and one report were approved. There were no blanket purchase orders.

In officers' reports, Janet Wright, Jackson County Treasurer, gave a report for back taxes. Her staff worked very hard to bring in these funds, which were so necessary to the county. For Nov. 2008 the total was $6,266,724 and for Dec. 2008, $6,739,491. Christi Hair, County Clerk, reminded Jackson County supervisors that Jerry Gibson still needs to know who is going to the personnel policy seminar, and when. The closest seminar is in Lawton, on Jan. 20.

Dale Dunn stated the Martha Bridge ribbon cutting will be held Jan. 11 at 1:30 p.m. He is expecting dignitaries from various offices to attend.

The six-month bids for the Road and Bridge Materials and the Tires and Herbicides bids were opened and taken on advisement.

The 4 bids received for 2 new 1/2 ton pickups for the Jackson County Sheriff's Office were opened and considered. The bids were as follows: Brown Ford (Cordell) $20,756.20 each or $41,512.40 with 10-12 weeks time; Billingsley Ford (Lawton) $21,280 each, or $42,560 with 6-8 weeks time; Wilmes Ford (Altus) $22,068.20 and $44,136.40 with no time designated; and Wilmes Chevrolet (Altus) $28,530 totaling $57,600. Sheriff Levick recommended going with Brown Ford and that suggestion was approved by the board.

The commissioners approved the Jackson County Fair Board elections filing period to be Jan. 25, at 8 a.m. through Jan. 29 at 4 p.m. by Resolution 2010-03.

Dale Dunn already sits on the SW Rural Development Board, and he wished to remain on the board. His reappointment was approved by the board.

Anthony Fixico is on the City of Altus Economic Development Commission. He was reappointed and approved by the board to do so.

Cary Carrell is on the E-911 Board and was approved to remain on that board.

Under new business, Janet Wright said that Jackson County has received a letter fro the City of Altus regarding a dilapidated residence at 616 S. Willard. This house has a complicated history, including a suspicious fire, which occurred after the county got this property this last summer, on failure to pay taxes. The hearing for this property will be Thursday, Jan. 7 at City Hall. Wright and Fixico will work together on this project and attend the hearing.

There were no public or vendor participation items, and all claims were approved.
