In Officers' reports, Commissioner Cary Carrell will speak with John Wampler regarding the information on oil drilling and the lease offer that was presented to the commissioners in the past. Commissioner Dale Dunn asked about the ordering of sand for the area on the west side of the courthouse. The commissioners then discussed whether the parking lot will be extended out in a straight line to increase space. Most thought that would be a good idea. Jerry Gibson will check on the cost of having cable access in the courthouse. It would especially benefit emergency management to be able to have access to weather and news coverage. The Federal building bid is under contract to Darrill Leverett for office space. His was the highest bid.
The commissioners approved acceptance of quotes for Personal Protective Equipment for Elmer Rural Fire Department. Four full suits will cost $7904 and will be ordered from Chief Fire and Safety. The REAP grant account will cover about $6700 and the rest will be paid by the Elmer Fire Department. Additionally, the commissioners approved the reappointment of Gary Stevens to a 5-year term to the Elmer Fire Department. His term will run from 12-1-09 to 12-1-14.
For services provided to tuberculosis patients, the Jackson County Health Department has contracted with Frances Lopez of Directly Observed Therapy. The contract will be $1600 and will be completed June 30. The commissioners approved this contract.
Resolution 2010-04, which was approved, set the maximum monthly highway expenditures for the month of January at $399,158.26.
The commissioners designated Kim Adams as Receiving Officer and deleted Travis Cain for this position.
In new business, there was a notice of Last Day on the Job for Susan Walker, as Jan. 20. Also in new business, the commissioners discussed possibilities for stimulus funds for Jackson County. A public notice was run this last Sunday in the Altus Times, and will also repeat next Sunday regarding a request for proposals for tax-exempt financing of economic development projects. Jackson County has been designated as a "recovery zone" by the commissioners. The conditions stated for this tax-exempt financing are listed in the public notice. Due to limitations placed by the federal government, proposals must be received by the Commissioners' office by Feb. 15, at 3 p.m.
There were no public or vendor participation items. All claims were approved by the commissioners.
