Area residents are invited to a presentation by the National Weather Service regarding storm spotter training and storm safety information, according to Jackson County Emergency Manager Jerry Gibson.

The free program will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Feb. 25 at the Southwest Vo-Tech Center, 711 W Tamarack, in Altus.

"This program is an important part of the City of Altus effort to be 'StormReady," said Lloyd Colston, Altus Emergency Management director.

"The National Weather Service StormReady program gives extra credit to cities, towns, and counties who go the extra mile for their citizens."

This training is required of local storm spotters and counts for their required annual refresher, explained Gibson, but everyone is invited to attend.

Law enforcement officers attending will receive CLEET hours, as part of their continuing education effort.
