In other games the Duke girls and the Olustee boys survived runner-up area games and they get to move in the area.
Duke 41, Blair 36
Boys winners bracket area semifinals
It was a tight game most of the way.
What turned out to be the difference was the play of Duke’s Kanyon Combs in the fourth period. With the score tied 29-29 in the early portion of the quarter, Combs scored eight consecutive points to make 37-29.
Blair could not overcome that.
Combs led all scorers with 15 points. Eric Cottrell tallied 13 points to pace Blair.
Duke moves to Saturday night’s finals where they will Lookeba Sickles at 8 p.m. at Clinton
Blair played this afternoon against Verden in the runner up area at Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford.
Olustee 56, Eldordo 41
Girls semifinals
Stephanie Guest and Kayla Cotton led the way as the Lady Eagles punched their ticket into Saturday night’s finals.
Guest scored 18 points and Cotton 15 points.
Cheyenne Edwards tallied 11 points for the Lady Panthers.
Olustee will play third ranked Hammon (25-1) at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at Clinton.
Eldorado played Corn Bible this afternoon in an elimination game at Southwestern.
Duke 30, Blair 20
Girls runner up quarterfinals
Alex Bustos gave the Lady Tigers a boost in this low scoring game. She gave Duke the lead for good when she hit three straight three-point baskets in the second quarter. She finished with 15 points.
Jessica Rohrer scored six points to pace the Lady Broncs.
Duke will play Verden tonight at 6:30 p.m. at Southwestern in an elimination game.
Olustee 44, Eldorado 43.
Boys runnerup quarterfinals.
The Eagles eliminated Eldorado but it wasn’t easy.
Olustee held a 13 point lead at one point but the Panthers fought back.
Twice Eldorado drew within one point late in the game. Shane Medina made a three point basket with three seconds left to make it 44-43 but Olustee ran out the clock.
Joshua Ramirez scored 15 points, to lead Olustee. He was followed by Jonathan Cotton who had 11 points and Garrett Weber had 19 points.
Medina scored 21 points, 19 in the second half.
Olustee will play Hammon at 8 p.m. tonight at Southwestern in an elimination game.
