The City of Altus’ annual audit that will be presented to the Council later in March will include a report on AGPRI, the group that organizes and manages the city’s recreational programs. A preliminary audit of the group shows that there is no controls in place to ensure admission collections are being deposited in full, that receipts and disbursements are co-mingled in bank accounts and that the city has not been requesting or reviewing the corporation’s finances.

The audit also shows that AGPRI (Altus Great Plains Recreational Inc.) has not filed for nonprofit status, has not been paying income or sales tax, and has not ensured the required insurance coverage for its employees, nor renewed its contract with the city for the current fiscal year.

The findings have been reported to the finance director for Altus and are being reviewed.

In relation to the non-compliance issues, City Administrator Mike Nettles said that after seeing the preliminary audit that there are concerns, and that the City will need to work out the issues out, and that financial responsibilities will be separated.
