97th Air Mobility Wing Plans
ALTUS AIR FORCE BASE – Altus Air Force Base and the City of Altus Emergency Management will conduct a joint exercise and test of the severe weather alert systems March 24, approximately 8:30 a.m. At that time, the city of Altus and base residents should hear a short test of the warning sirens. Additionally, base residents will hear the Giant Voice severe weather alerts and alert radio messages.
The base and city populace are encouraged to review severe weather response plans and participate in the exercise. This is an excellent time to ensure your personal severe weather survival kits are up to date in preparation for the upcoming severe weather season. Altus residents should visit http://www.cityofaltus.org (Emergency Management) to get an update on the latest severe weather actions and to receive guidance on how to prepare survival kits. On-base personnel should contact their respective unit emergency management representative for more information.
In the event of inclement weather on March 24, the exercise will be slipped to the next day at the same time. Please direct any questions to Captain Jeremy Ponn, Altus AFB Chief of Inspections, (580) 481-6664. Altus residents can contact Mr. Lloyd Colston, City of Altus Emergency Management Director, (580) 482-8333.
