Man sought in stabbing arrested after foot chase

Police were called to a house in the 600 block of N. Willard early last Monday for a domestic dispute. When officers arrived, they found a man on the front porch of the home who had been stabbed several times in the chest and abdomen.

Witness say suspect Bobby Payne, stabbed the victim several times after the two began arguing.

Police have been looking for Payne since he fled the scene, but an observant officer spotted Payne Friday afternoon and an arrest was later made.

According to reports, an officer saw an individual acting suspiciously in the 400 block of N. Willard Friday afternoon and called for back up. The individual, who was later identified as Payne, went around the side of a house, jumped the fence and started running.

A short chase ensued with officers catching Payne just a block over at 417 W. Elm. Payne was taken into custody and is awaiting his initial appearance before a judge.
