There was no old business.
In new business it was announced there would be a meeting with Phil Burk regarding the new court house annex. The meeting adjourned at 9:40 a.m. and wasimmediately followed by the Commissioners meeting.
The minutes of the March 15 meeting were approved. There were two blanket purchase orders, 1 from the Health Department and 1 from the Assessor's Office. There were no reports to approve.
During the officers' reports, Gerald Sherril, Jr. asked if they had spoken to the engineer regarding the court house repairs. The commissioners said they would wait until they spoke with Phil Burk, in the afternoon, to get advice on the repairs of the building to satisfy historical requirements for the court house. Commissioner Dale Dunn mentioned there would be a CED Board meeting March 23 at 1 p.m.
The commissioners approved the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) 2010 application for submission on the Racetrack Road project.
The RFP's (Request for Proposals) were opened for Monitoring Services and Debris Removal from January's ice storm. There were 3 bids submitted for monitoring services and 5 for debris removal. They were opened and checked for complete applications and preliminary figures were compared. The commissioners decided to take them on advisement depending on information gained from the FEMA kickoff meeting on Wednesday, March 24 in the commissioners' office at 8 a.m. This will be an open meeting.
The commissioners asked that a contract between the County and Wendy Havens (QTS), for random selection of drug testing, be examined by John Wampler, County counsel. The matter will be put on the agenda for the next meeting on March 31.
Approval was given to two projects involving the Jackson County Water District and reimbursement for fencing in their CIRB project 133C(071)RB. One reimbursement was for $3,139.00 and the other $5,284.50. Both were approved by Resolution 2010-10 and 2010-11 respectively.
In new business, Jackson County Emergency Management Director Jerry Gibson informed the commissioners again on the FEMA meeting and the Thursday, March 25, Public Awareness meeting for county employees and law enforcement at Southwest Technology Center at 10:30 a.m. Commissioner Anthony Fixico received a resolution from Southwest Rural Electric thanking the county for help with the power restoration process during the ice storm. Fixico also received a notice of action from Stockmans Bank and notice of a suit against Dr. Glascow and Jackson County Memorial Hospital on behalf of Linda Shavers.
There was no public or vendor participation. The claims were all approved and the meeting adjourned at 11:30 a.m.
