Because of the Altus Schools Open Choice Policy, students providing their own transportation to and from school may choose to enroll at any local elementary school. The only exception is Rivers Elementary, which is reserved for children living in Altus Air Force Base housing or who have a parent working on base, in either a military or civilian job.
Students who will be riding the bus to school must attend the school in their designated bussing areas. No bussing will be provided to Rivers Elementary, and no bus transportation will be provided for students in Pre-K. Bus transportation area maps are available at the Board of Education Administrative Center, located at 219 N. Lee, or on the district's web site at www.altusschools.k12.ok.us.
All programs are full day and will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
Children who are currently enrolled in Pre-K at an Altus elementary school will automatically be enrolled for the fall and do not need to attend the Roundup, provided that they return their Elementary School Choice Forms by the April 1st deadline.
Children eligible for kindergarten will turn five years old on or before Sept. 1, 2010. Those eligible for pre-kindergarten will turn four years old on or before Sept. 1, 2010.
Please bring your child’s birth certificate, immunization records, and Social Security Number (optional) to the Roundup.
