The Jackson County Commissioners have voted to reject the Request For Proposals on the debris removal and monitoring. The county will not have to bid this out, but will hire additional people who will be non-budgeted personnel. Had the county contracted the job out, county funds would be used to pay contractors. Then the county would have to wait for reimbursement from FEMA and the state.

The commissioners' meeting was held Monday, April 12. The minutes of the April 5 meeting were approved. There were two blanket purchase orders approved from the Sheriff's office. Three reports were approved from the Court Clerk's office, the Election Board, and the Bogus Check Division.

During the officers' reports, Jackson County Treasurer, Janet Wright thanked the Assessor's office for help in locating and posting rural properties. Commissioner Dale Dunn said that a FEMA debris specialist will be back in town on this Wednesday. Commissioner Anthony Fixico said that he is still waiting on an estimate on the courthouse facade repair.

An extension on the Emergency and Transportation Revolving Fund was approved with Resolution 2010-14.

The commissioners' proceedings were approved for March.

They chose to take no action until further research on a coverage request from Ergon Asphalt & Emulsion.

The commissioners approved the use of a State Health Department grant to purchase items for the Jackson County Health Department.

They received a letter of disposition from the Assessor's office for an old computer declared surplus.

In new business, Wright gave the February sales tax as $110,827.39, which was up $10,000 from last month. The use tax from February was $3,296.19, down from January. Dunn said he needs the Highway appropriations for the last four months. It seems that road dollars are decreasing in Jackson County.

There are two pending lawsuits involving Jeff Lee Bradford vs. Jackson County and

Smart & Brough, Inc. vs. Pamela Ensign.

There was no public or vendor participation. The claims were all approved and the meeting was adjourned.
