The Phase IV Navajoe Gateway project will begin Monday, April 19 and will take about three and one-half months to complete. This project involves the removal and replacement of sidewalks, driveways and curb & gutter. Additionally, new street lighting will be installed along with decorative landscaping along the project route.

The project is an extension of the previous streetscape projects and is part of an on-going effort to enhance the beauty of the downtown area and highway thoroughfares that pass through the City of Altus. The funding for the Navajoe Gateway Phase IV project is 80 percent State and Federal with a 20 percent City of Altus matching funds.

The project will begin at Benson St. and run west approximately 3.5 Blks. Project will end at and will not cross the railroad tracks.

Citizens are asked to be understanding and exercise some patient during the construction as there may short periods of time when driveway use may be denied due to the placement of fresh concrete. But again, these times of inconvenience will be brief and once the Contractor has passed their particular location or residence the they will have full use of the drive. A couple of benefits that many of the landowners have expressed great pleasure with is the fact that not only does the project enhance the appearance and “curb appeal” of their property but it also increases the value.

Contractor will be Rudy Construction out of Oklahoma City. Rudy Construction has done work for the City of Altus before and has proven themselves to be a very reputable company to work with.

Phillip Beauchamp of the Public Works Engineering Department will be the Project Manager so any questions or concerns should be directed to his office at 481-2228.
