At tonight's City Council meeting, located in the Council Chambers at 220 E. Commerce, the council will, among other things, discuss and possible vote to approve an ordinance amending the Altus Code 1980. This regards changing the way the City deals with renting out its facilities. It creates three categories for renters and three corresponding levels of paying for the facilities. It also establishes a deposit for all City facilities, and provides for rules of use and penalties for violations.

The council will also consider the recommendations of the Senior Citizens Center Committee whether to build a new Senior Citizens Center, and if so, its location.

The Altus Municipal Authority meeting at 6:30 p.m. precedes the City Council meeting. The City of Altus encourages participation from all of its citizens. If participation at any public meeting is not possible due to disability, notification to the Mayor's office at least 48 hours prior to the scheduled meeting is encouraged to make the necessary accommodations. The City may waive the 48 hour rule if signing is not the necessary accommodation. Call 481-2202 to make the necessary arrangements. The City will accommodate you anytime and in every way possible.
