Aaron Villegas
The event will start at 1 p.m. with music by the Hispanic band “Los Matreros.” There will be horsehoe contest at 2 p.m., followed by the Altus Firefighters judging the Hot Sauce contest at 3 p.m.
The Lawton Hispanic Folkloric Dancers will perform at 3:30 p.m., followed by a pinata breaking for the kids at 4 p.m. The winners of the car show will also be announced at 4 p.m.
The Folkloric Dancers will perform again at 4:30 p.m. with the crowning of the Prince and Princess at 5 p.m. Miss Altus Martha Bullington will crown the winners.
If you like to dance, be sure and enter the Cumbia contest and El Grito contest that begins at 5:30 p.m.
There will be lots of vendor booths and other activities throughout the day including face painting and raffles.
In case of rain, the event will be held at the Community Center.
The winners of the Prince and Princess Contest will the boy and girl that raises the most money. This money will be used for AHA scholarships. Last year AHA gave $2,500 in scholarships for Altus and surrounding ccommunity students.
The six children helping to raise funds by being contestants this year are Aaron Villegas, Demetrius Cruz, Kylee Linares, Jasmine Hopkins, Chloe Castillo, and Jiselle Julian.
Deadline for the contests’ fundraising is Saturday morning. The contestants are:
Aaron J. Villigas is the 5 year old son of Alberto and Acacelli Villegas. His birthday is June 1. He enjoys watching movies, and playing outside. His favorite food is Chicken McNuggets and fries, and favorite color is blue. He likes the movie Ghost Rider and the Alvin and the Chipmunks and the song Baby. His grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Paul Salomon, Margreat Bates and Elizabeth Cruz.
Kylee Linares is the 2 year old daughter of Marissa Linares and Johnathon Foster. Her birthday is February 20. She enjoys playing with her brother and watching her favorite cartoon Dora. Her favorite food is pizza, and favorite color is pink. Her grandparents are Manuel and Brenda Linares, David Jeannie Morhiser, Jessie Patterson, and Brent and Terri Romines.
Jasmine Hopkins is the 2 year old daughter of Kim Garcia and Errick Hopkins. Her birthday is December 4. She enjoys dancing and playing with her sister. Her favorite food is chicken and favorite color is pink. Her favorite cartoon is Dora and song is Ice Cream Paint Job. Her grandparents are Rudy and Janie Garcia, and her great grandparents are Louis and Lina Ortega.
Chloe Lorene Castillo is the 3 year old daughter of Noe and Michelle Castillo. Her birthday is August 21. She enjoys playing with her brothers and sisters, fishing, and learning about hunting.
