When everything settled, Chickasha ranked seventh in Class 5A, walked away with a 6-1 victory.
That forced the Bulldogs into the losers bracket game against Lawton MacArthur. Sloppy play continued in that game. Chickasha pushed two runs in the bottom of the seventh to defeat Altus 5-4 and eliminate the Bulldogs from the playoffs.
Chickasha 6, Altus 1
The Bulldogs couldn’t get anything going against Chickasha starter Collin Hightower. Altus collected only four hits and struck out 12 times.
The Bulldogs avoided a shutout when they scored an unearned run in the fifth inning. Chickasha committed two of their five errors in that inning. Dillon Ridley scored from third base on a squeeze bunt from Shelby Worbes.
Chickasha scored three unearned runs thanks to a pair of Altus errors in the fourth inning.
The Fightin’ Chicks added three more unearned runs in the fifth inning.
Kaleb Evans, Robby Suniga, Brandon Ybara and Worbes had one hit each.
Lawton MacArthur 5, Altus 4
Defense was hard to come by in this game. There were many misplayed pop ups and fly balls.
Altus scored three runs in the top of the sixth inning to take a 4-3 lead. Zach Neely drove in a run on a ground out. Worbes had an RBI single and another run scored on a misplayed fly ball.
In the bottom of the seventh MacArthur scored two runs to complete a come from behind victory. B.J. Milott hit a game tying home run with one out. A error and a RBI single by Eric Zukerman brought in the winning run.
Altus closed out its season with a 13-18 record
