The Jackson County Commissioners' meeting was held on Monday, May 17. The minutes of the May 10 meeting were approved. There was one blanket purchase order from the Health Department, which was approved. There were no reports to approve.

During the officers' reports, Commissioner Dale Dunn said that certification is not needed for a special contractor to repair the front of the courthouse which was damaged in the ice storm. As long as Phil Burk is involved and the configuration of the courthouse is not changed in any way, certification is not needed, according to Dunn. The commissioners approved the maximum highway expenditures for May as $428,738.24, by Resolution 2010-16.

Disposing of superfluous highway equipment was approved by several resolutions by district. Resolutions 2010-17 through 23 covered those items disposed of from District 1. District 2 items were approved by Resolutions 2010-24 to 31. These items included everything from old grader tires to two old trucks.

The commissioners also approved an agreement between Jackson County and the Rocmd Area Youth Services, Inc. in Vinita. They operate a youth drug and alcohol rehab facility. The rate for each juvenile to be housed there will now be $17.02 per day.

In new business, Dunn said that FEMA representatives will be down this week to review the necessary road work since the ice storm.

There were no public or vendor participation items. The claims were all approved. There will be a special meeting of the County Commissioners on this Wednesday, May 19, at 1 p.m. for a proclamation on National EMS Week.
