Altus woman air-vaced to OKC with injuries after one-vehicle accident

OLUSTEE - Audrey Hamel, 24, of Altus, was taken by Mediflight to the OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City Sunday with serious trunk internal injuries after this wreck north of Olustee.

According to reports, Hamel was northbound on SH 6 at 6:14 p.m. Sunday driving a 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee when she failed to negotiate a curve about 2 miles north of Olustee. She then ran off the left side of the roadway and overcorrected causing the vehicle to overnturn two complete times.

Investigating the accident was Trooper Steve Pothorst of the Jackson County detachment of Troop M. He was assisted by Lt. George Dickerson, Jackson County EMS, Jackson County Sheriff's Department, Jackson County Game Warden and the Altus FireDepartment.
