There are some very exciting programs happening at the Altus Public Library during the next few months and the library wants to invite everyone to attend. Native Altusan Judge Kim D. Parrish will be at the library in February along with nationally acclaimed author Rilla Askew.

"Let's Talk About It, Oklahoma!" also returns to the library during March and April.

Parrish will be at the library on Monday, Feb. 11 to talk about his book, “Cowboy Up,” a riveting behind-the-scenes look at Coach John Smith and the 2005 Oklahoma State Cowboy's wrestling team and their run to the NCAA National Wrestling Championship.

"Oklahoma Reads Oklahoma" winner Rilla Askew will review her winning novel, “Fire in Beulah” Feb. 21. “Fire in Beulah” is the chronicle of race, greed, and moral choice set during the tense days of the Oklahoma oil rush. Rilla will also be at the Hollis High School on Feb. 22.

Both authors will have copies of their books for purchase and autographs.

“Let's Talk About It, Oklahoma!” makes its return to the library with the theme, "Get Your Reading Kicks on Route 66."

Books featured are “Route 66: The Mother Road,” by Michael Wallis, “Mother Road” by Dorothy Garlock, “Route 66 Remembered” by Michael Witzel and “West on 66: A Mystery” by James Cobb.

Scholars from Southwest Oklahoma will be at the library to discuss the books. The first book scheduled is Michael Wallis' “Route 66: The Mother Road.” Dr. Roger Bromert will be the guest scholar. Come and relive those exciting days when Route 66 was the "Mother Road!"
