The Western Oklahoma State College Lady Pioneers converted some free throw opportunities down the stretch and defeated Redlands 77-74 here on Thursday night.

It was a close game most of the way. Western held a five-point lead at one time during the second half, but they could not shake free from the visitors.

Julie Miller hit the front end of a two shot opportunity to give Western a 75-74 lead with 52 seconds left.

Crystal Davis gave the Lady Pioneers a three-point lead with 11.7 seconds left to make it 77-74.

Redlands could not score on its last possession.

Miller led Western in scoring with 18 points. Davis had 15 points and Shanessa Smith, who spent a good part of the second half on the bench with foul trouble, finished with 13 points. Joradan Langford had 10 points.

Western will host Weatherford, Texas at 2 p.m. Saturday.
