Wyvona O. Washburn French was born on May 19, 1926 in Grandfield, Oklahoma to Sam and Maude (Greer) Washburn. She attended Sage School near Grandfield, later transferring to Grandfield, where she graduated from high school in May of 1944. She was united in marriage to Alan L. "Buddy" French on March 25, 1944 in Grandfield. She and Buddy lived on the family farm for fifteen years before moving to Frederick and residing for 40 years. They then moved back to the farm and had lived there ever since. She had worked for the ASCS in Frederick for 32 years before retiring in 1988. Wyvona worked for the Tillman County Election Board as a precinct official for several years. She was a loyal member of the First Baptist Church in Frederick where she had taught in the Children's and Young Women's Department many years.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years: Buddy of the home; one daughter: Janie Duggins of Frederick;one son-in-law: Chuck Tennessen; one brother: Jimmy Washburn and his wife Barbara of Moyers, Oklahoma; four sisters: Lamoin Speck of Altus, Freeda Lewis of Frederick, Margie Reid and her husband Wallace of Grandfield and Sammie Ladd and her husband James of Altus; three sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law: Greta Lawson Ward of Chickasha, Alice Lee & Hill Howard of Wichita Falls, Texas and Lois Higgins of Frederick; five grandchildren and spouses: Tracy Coletti and Mike of Edmond, Ginny Calhoun and Rodney of Duncan, Ron Duggins and Jane of Stillwater, Amy Wilcox of Geronimo and Paul Duggins and Kimberly of Frederick; ten great-grandchildren: Mason and Maddox Coletti, Cy & Faith Calhoun, Lilian Jane Duggins, Abby & Mattie Wilcox, Amber, Shelby & Allie Duggins; and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter: Alana French Tennessen; and one brother: Wayne Washburn.
