The Jackson County Republican party will hold their Precinct meetings and County Convention Thursday, Feb. 28 at the Altus Best Western. An educational video ,"Rediscovering God in America" by Newt and Callisa Gingrich will be playing during Precinct meeting time which will begin at 6 p.m. The County Convention will convene at 7 p.m. with Steve Fair, well known Republican columnist and editorial writer, as convention chairman. The Jackson County Health Department has announced that food handler’s classes are scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 28 at 10 a.m., 2 p.m., and 7 p.m. at the Southern Plains Library, 421 N. Hudson St.

Sunday Afternoon Music (SAM) is scheduled at 4 p.m. March 2 at the First Presbyterian Church, 208 East Cypress in Altus, with the theme, "Romantic..., etc." Music will be performed, by piano, voice, violin, saxophone, clarinet and drums and will include some sacred music. Come and enjoy this free concert.
A free “Financial Health Fair” for the Hispanic community will be hosted by the Southern Prairie Library System at the Altus Public Library on Monday, March 3, from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Booths on budgeting, identity thefts, investing, banking, real estate and other topics will provide bi-lingual materials. Children, age 3-10, will also have special activities during the fair. A light meal will be served.
