Shortgrass Arts & Humanities Council presents “Spring Fling” Dinner and Dance, featuring All That Jazz--“A Big Band Experience,” Saturday, March 29 at the Best Western Ballroom, 2804 N. Main in Altus. At 6 p.m. Main Street Grill will cater a steak and chicken buffet with dancing from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. A cash bar will be available. Tickets sell for $20 each, $35 per couple or a table of eight for $150 and may be purchased by calling the Arts Council at 580-477-1616 or at the Altus Public Library, Arts Council Office and Crown Jewelry. Ticket deadline is Wednesday, March 26.

The MacDowell Club of Allied Arts will meet at 7 p.m., Tuesday, March 11, at the home of Catherine Coke with Janice Pellam and Jan Johnson serving as co-hostesses. The program is entitled "Saint Patrick's Parade of Music."

The Altus Ballroom Dancers continue to meet from 7 to 9 p.m. each Monday in the basement Blue Room of the Municipal Auditorium. Couples of all ages are invited to come and learn new dance steps during the first hour and practice dancing the second hour. The cha cha cha and the tango will be introduced during the month of March. Admission is $5 per couple. Call Al and Sue Messerly at 477-1822 for more information.

Altus York Rite will hold a stated meeting at 7 p.m., Thursday, March 6 with Fellowship at 6 p.m. All York Rite Masons are urged to attend.

The National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association will meet at the Elks Club at 1 p.m., Thursday, March 6 for a Dutch Treat luncheon. Speaker will be Shirley Sutherland, Director of Casa.

Southwest Oklahoma Quilt Guild will have their monthly meeting Thursday, March 6 held at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church , Falcon Rd. Open quilting at 10 a.m., potluck at 11:30 a.m., business meeting at 1 p.m. Program on Baby Quilts at 1:30 p.m. and presentation of Donation quilts at 2 p.m. Everyone is welcome. The Altus Kiwanis Club will meet this Friday, March 7 at noon in the Student Center at W.O.S.C. Their speaker will be Lt Col Randall Reed, Commander of the 55th Air Refueling Squadron, Altus Air Force Base. All members and their guests are enouraged to attend.

“Money Smarts” will be held on Friday, March 7, at the Altus Public Library from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. as a free financial program for Hispanics to learn about computers and money. Story time for children and refreshments will also be available.

Aldonian Club Garage Sale will be held from 8 a.m. to noon, Saturday, March 8 at the Altus Community Center.

Altus Chapter #49 of Oklahoma Eastern Star will hold a stated meeting on Tuesday, March 11 at 7:30 p.m. at Masonic Lodge - 1120 N. Hudson. All members are urged to attend. For more information call 648-2346.

The Duke Chamber of Commerce will hold its regular monthly meeting at 7 a.m., March 11 at the Duke store & Cafe. Breakfast will be served complements of the Duke Store & Cafe.

Altus Masonic Lodge Number 62 will hold a school of instructions or confer a degree at 7 p.m., Wednesday, March 12 with Fellowship at 6 p.m. All Masons are urged to attend.

The Altus Kiwanis Club would like to announce their First Annual Sandy Nichols Memorial Golf Tournament. It will be held on the Windy Trails Golf Course at Altus Air Force Base beginning at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 9. All proceeds will go into a Maintenance Fund for the Imagination Station playground that former Kiwanian Sandy Nichols was instrumental in building for the children of Altus. Altus businesses are encouraged to help defray tournament expenses by becoming a sponsor.

Altus Original Group Alcoholics Anonymous will hold meetings every day at 8 p.m. The location is at 315 N. Crain.
