Granite men injured in one-vehicle accident
Driver loses control and hits tree

Skyler Speck, 16, of Granite, lost control of his 1996 Pontiac on a Greer County road last night, ran off the road and hit a tree.

According to reports, the accident happened at 11:23 p.m. 1 mile east and 1.5 miles north of Granite. Speck lost control of his vehicle for an unknown reason, went into a broadslide, and hit a tree.

He was taken to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City by Medi-Flight with head and trunk injuries and was listed in serious condition.

A passenger, Patrick Strout, 19, of Granite, was taken to Jackson County Memorial Hospital by Greer County Ambulance and is listed in stable condition with head and trunk injuries.

Speck was pinned for about 15 minutes and was freed by the Granite Fire Department.

The accident was investigated by Trooper Tyler Shelby of the Greer County detachment of the Oklahoma Highway Patrol. Also responding were Trooper Michael Jewell of the Kiowa County detachment, Granite Police and the Mangum Fire Department.

Seatbelts were not in use and airbags were equipped but did not deploy.
