Although Jackson County Election Board Secretary Jennifer Wilson said this morning that no other candicates had filed for local offices since yesterday’s report, at the state level, the race for the District #52 seat on the Oklahoma House of Representatives drew a second candidate yesterday. Altus businessman Ricky Brewer filed for the office. Altus businessman Charles Ortega filed on Monday. Both candidates are Republicans. The seat is up for grabs with Democrat David Braddock having reached term limits.

Six candidates have filed for various Jackson County offices, two of which for office of County Assessor. Both candidates, incumbent Gerald Sherill and Larry Bassel, are Democrats. The County Assessor’s post, as well as any other races that may develop, will be decided in a July 29 local election.

Other county filings include incumbent Roger C. Levick for County Sheriff, Rhonda Stepanovich for Court Clerk, Anthony Fixico for County Commissioner District One, and Christi Hair for County Clerk.

In other state races, Frank Lucas, 3rd District Congressman from Cheyenne, has filed for re-election. He has drawn an opponent in Democrat Frankie Robbins of Medford.

The filing period runs through 5 p.m. today.
