Synott Matthews and the Shortgrass Institute will start the week off with an art class for 3rd through 5th graders. The class will begin Monday, June 16 through Friday, June 20 and will continue for two more days on June 23 and 24. The class will be from 5 to 6 p.m. and the cost is $25. The class is limited so reservations must be made by calling the library at 477-2890. Synott Matthews is a mater artist and has gained a reputation for being an outstanding teacher. His students have won many awards over the years locally and nationally. His skill and rapport with his students keep them coming back for more.
Jiaan Powers of Dallas will be here for two programs-one for teens on Wednesday, June 18 at 2:30 p.m., and on Thursday, June 19 at 2 p.m. for the whole family.
For the teens Jiaan will be doing a workshop on the art of story telling. In this workshop teens discover for themselves the benefits of storytelling. Combine teens, storytelling and writing and you have a recipe for magic.
Jiaan’s program on Thursday will have you begging for more o her stories. This program is for the whole family. Jiaan tells multi-cultural tales, tall tales, myths and legends. She brings over 22 years of experience as a teacher and a master story teller to her craft. She is a native Texan and a member of the National Storytelling Network, Storytelling Foundation International, Tejas Storytelling Association Dallas Storytelling Guild and the Richardson-Piano Storytelling Guild.

Catch the Reading Bug films for pre-schoolers are each Tuesday morning at 10:30. This week Diary of a Worm will be the feature film with 2 or 3 other short films. And, don’t forget story time each Wednesday morning at 10:30 for ages 2 and up. Each of these programs last approximately 30 minutes.
