Billy Ray “Dugan” Denton, 77, passed away, Thursday, June 12, 2008, in Lubbock, Texas. Graveside services will be held at the Eldorado Cemetery, at 10 a.m., Tuesday with Bill Osborne officiating under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home.

Billy Ray was born in Quanah, Texas, to Collins and Nadine (McAlister) Denton on March 29, 1931. He graduated high school in Eldorado in 1949. Following high school, he was in the Army and served his country in the Korean War. Billy Ray was a laborer and worked in agriculture. He was of the Baptist faith.

Billy Ray loved major league baseball. His favorite team was the St. Louis Cardinals.

Billy Ray was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Johnny Denton; and a sister, Colleene McDowell.

Survivors include a daughter, Jeanne Brandon of Altus; sons, Terry Denton and his wife Jana of Eldorado, and Collins Denton and his wife Rachel of Rockwall, Texas; seven grandchildren, Heather Hill of Altus, Heath Hill of Altus, Brandon Denton and his wife Melanie of Eldorado, Sean Denton of Woodward, Tara Brown and husband Rya of Weatherford, Dustin Phillips of Rockwall, and Cade Denton of Rockwall.

Friends are welcome to visit the family at the Kincannon Funeral Home in Eldorado from 5 to 7 p.m. today.
