Local bicycle enthusiast, Paul Sutherland, left, approves a T-shirt print designed by Loren Ahrens, Custom Graphics, for the upcoming Quartz Mountain Diamondback 100 Bike Ride which will be held Saturday, July 19. Proceeds from the ride will be presented to the local CASA organization to assist in there recent loss of funding sources. Sutherland said he has always wanted to have a bike ride here in the Altus area like other communities offer, and has worked within the surroundings areas to offer a scenic ride that will begin at the Altus Reservoir and travel through Blair, Martha, Granite, Mangum, Quartz Mountain and Friendship areas. Several routes will be offered including a 10 mile around the reservoir (ideal for families and beginners), a 40 mile, a 62 mile and a 100 mile route. There will be a final registration Friday, July 18, at the Community Center from 6 to 8 p.m. The ride begins at 8 a.m. Saturday morning. Sponsors are still being sought to assist in this adventure.
