Three injured in
one-vehicle accident

A 2003 Chevrolet Suburban driven by Milton Burnside, 18, of Carnegie, was west bound on U.S. Highway 62 Monday afternoon when, for an unknown reason, it went off the right side of the road, traveled about 314 feet, and then impacted the west side of a creek embankment. The driver and both passengers were pinned for abourt 25 minutes before beinig extricated by Altus Fire and Resue members. Burnside was taken by Jackson County EMS to Jackson County Memorial Hospital where he was treated and released. Passenger Myron Burnside, 47, of Carnegie, was transported by Air Evac to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City with head, internal and leg injuries and is listed in serious condition. The other passenger, Bobby Burnside, 44, also of Carnegie, was taken to Jackson County Memorial Hospital with arm and internal injuries and is listed in serious condtion. Seatbelts were in use by the driver, but not by the passengers. The accident was investigated by Trooper Chris Sherman of the Jackson County detachement of the Oklahoma Highway Patrol. He was assisted by troopers from Jackson County, Tillman County, Greer and Harmon County, as well as the Altus and Friendship Fire Departments.
