Under new business, at the Monday, July 19th Jackson County Commissioners meeting, Commissioner Dale Dunn mentioned the FEMA figures that came out in the Altus Times, Sunday, July 18. At that date, the amount of funds shown for the county was $434,321.06. According to the commissioners, Jackson County proper hasn't received all of those funds. Perhaps that includes surrounding communities in Jackson County? Contact information for the FEMA Representative was given to the commissioners so they can research the interesting question. Maybe the check really is in the mail.

The Jackson County Commissioners meeting was held with some air conditioning issues at the courthouse. Some offices started the day out at almost eighty degrees. Condensation dripping from pipes and thermostat challenges added to the normal things employees experience in historical buildings.

The minutes of the Monday, July 12 meeting were approved, along with blanket purchase orders from the Health Department. There were no reports.

During the officer's reports, Commissioner Dale Dunn said he had not received the scope of work on the courthouse fascia repair. He also said he received a request from the rodeo committee they be allowed to add more sand to the arena. The arena is about 200 feet by 300 feet and Tim Drury has enough sand to donate. The sand will be leveled using a laser technique. They would like a center depth of three inches, tapering out to the edges. The group just needs help from the commissioners, with the hauling of sand. Dunn will set up the activity.

Treasurer Janet Wright mentioned that the S. Willard property owned by the county caught fire recently. It is on the City dilapidated structures list to be destroyed.

The commissioners approved adding Jacquelyn Parrish to the Library Board. They chose to take no action on the naming of Dale Dunn to the Workforce Investment Area Consortium in Burns Flat.

The annual agreement for a postal unit from Pitney Bowes for the Jackson County Health Department was approved. This allows them to conduct bulk mailing.

There were no public or vendor participation items.

The claims were all approved.
