Cyclist injured after hitting cow on highway

According to reports compiled from the Greer County Sheriff’s office and Greer County EMS, Mangum resident Gary D. Toole was traveling on a motorcycle on U.S. Highway 283 around 1 a.m. today when he hit a cow that was on the highway.

Toole slid approximately 50 yards before his motorcycle flipped.

Toole was found in a ditch with multiple injuries including a possible shoulder and ankle fracture.

The accident happened aobut 2 miles east of Mangum at an area called Border Lake.

Toole was said to have been traveling about 60 mph when the accident occured.

He was taken to Jackson County Memorial Hospital by Greer County EMS.
