The Frederick city council met Tuesday evening at the Memorial Civic Center. Present were City Manager Robert Johnston, Mayor Eddie Whitworth, Vice-Mayor Wanda Evaige and Councilman Robert Meador. The meeting was called to order followed by a flag salute and invocation. A quorum was present and the business meeting began. The minutes of the previous meeting were approved and then pending claims were taken care of. The structure at 200 N 2nd was declared dilapidated and was scheduled to be demolished. The council voted to submit an ASCOG-REAP grant application for the Frederick Fire Department. The grant application would be in the amount of $45,000. The money will be used to purchase a Rescue Bed that would mount on a Ford F-550 chassis already owned by the Fire Department. In other business the Council voted to continue an Interlocal Agreement with Frederick Public Schools. The agreement would transfer property from the city to the school system. The properties in question are Riggins Field, Jaycee Park and five vacant lots adjacent to Jaycee Park. Mark Peet spoke as a concerned citizen. Peet pointed out an ongoing roof problem in the old T G & Y building which is next to his property. The matter was discussed and City Manager Robert Johnston stated that the city was well aware of the problem and is currently looking into a solution that would benefit everyone concerned. After inquiries from council members the meeting was adjourned.
