Celebration Sunday is set for August 31, 2008, at 11:00 am on the lawn of the Pioneer Townsite in Frederick. This event, intended to be the first annual Celebration Sunday at the Park, will be a gathering of all people of faith. All denominations will meet to worship together celebrating faith and the goodness of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Sunday School classes will meet as usual at home churches, then adjourn, with lawn chairs in hand, to Sunday morning services on the townsite lawn. Local pastors are organizing the event, but lay people will be worship leaders and featured speakers. Frederick's Community Choir and area soloists will provide music and local lay people will speak, giving testimony to their faith and life in Christ.

A special offering will be taken for the Ministerial Alliance fund used to help families in need. Because of these particularly difficult times, families have been stretched and funds are short. The Ministerial Alliance funds this help for families and manages a food bank open weekly in Frederick at the First Baptist Church.

This time of worship in a "lawn chair sanctuary" promises to be one of great blessing and encouragement as neighbors worship with neighbors. At this very moment as Christians and Americans, we see and hear our world neighbors at the Olympics, face the challenges of a distressed economy, a troubled culture and conflict abroad and we go about the business of weighing our thoughts on Presidential contenders. Surely, at this moment, too, we are reminded of the great need for active faith and vibrant prayer for the leaders and people of our community, country and world. Join us for this powerful opportunity for praise, worship and prayer.
