The National FFA Organization recently named Patrick Bakley of Tipton, Oklahoma, as a national finalist in the National FFA H.O. Sargent Diversity Award program. Bakley is being honored for supporting activities that promote diversity within agricultural education and FFA.
As a national finalist, Bakley will receive a cash award and a plaque in recognition of Bakley’s contributions. In addition, Bakley will be honored as part of the National FFA Convention, October 22-25, in Indianapolis, Ind.
The H.O. Sargent award recipient’s activities might include promoting cultural exchange programs/activities, designing membership recruitment programs to reach underrepresented groups, implementing community-oriented seminars addressing inlcusiveness, organizing New Farmers of America awareness week functions, or promoting agricultural careers to diverse groups. The program is one was FFA promotes students making a real difference in their communities.
FFA is a national youth organization of 500,823 student members preparing for leadership and careers in the science, business and technology of agriculture with 7, 358 local chapters in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands. FFA strives to make a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.
