September 30, 2008—Frederick, OK—Farmers and ranchers with 2009 Non-insured Crop Disaster Assistance Program (NAP) coverage must report planted acreage of Wheat, Barley, Oats, Rye, Triticale, Canola and other small grains, and cool season grass pasture 15 days prior to grazing or harvesting the acreage. Farm Service Agency County Executive Director Carl Josefy said, “Producers must report their acres to remain eligible for the program in case a loss occurs later. Without an acreage report, FSA has no way of knowing if the acres exist, where the acres are located, and what risk or share you may have in the crop.” Producers must report all acres and intended uses (grazing, hay, grain) as soon as possible—even if no acres are planted. NAP requires all crops with coverage to be reported timely each year. Producers with NAP coverage who have not reported their small grain and grass acreage should contact the FSA office for an appointment as soon as possible. All NAP crops must be reported before being grazed or harvested.
NAP acreage reports received after grazing or haying begins will be considered late-filed and will be charged a late-filing fee to cover the cost of a field inspection. The minimum charge is $46.00, so be sure to report all crop acreages timely.
