Mark this date! The 28th annual Altus Christmas Parade is set for 3 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 7. The route runs from Western Oklahoma State College south on Main St. to Commerce Street where it disbands.

The parade theme this year is "A Story Book Christmas." The Altus Chamber of Commerce organizes the parade with Debbie Davis as Chairman.

The parade is a community project with the City of Altus, WOSC and Altus Air Force Base and other volunteers providing many needed services.

The Parade Grand Marshal this year will be Rep. David Braddock and his family. Braddock has served the southwest area of the state District 52 in the Oklahoma House of Representatives for 12 years. The Christmas Parade Action Group selected Braddock and his family for the years of service to our community.

There is no entry fee to be in the parade. Local businesses and industries underwrite and sponsor the cost of the parade.

Prizes will be awarded to float entries in five categories.

Grand Marshall $300

First Place - School and Youth $200

First Place - Church $200

First Place - Civic & Commercial $200

First Place - Altus AFB $200

This year we will also give a $100 prize for the best antique wagon, remember all entries have to be decorated.

Entry applications are available at the Altus Chamber of Commerce, 301 West Commerce, or call 482-0210 for more information. Deadline for entries is 5 p.m., Dec. 1.
