16 year-old Felicia Puente of Tipton was injured in a one-vehicle accident at about 11 a.m. Sunday four miles south of Altus on Hwy. 283 in Jackson County. According to reports from the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, Puente was driving north in a 1991 Dodge Stealth when she lost control causing the vehicle to leave the roadway to the right. After traveling 156 feet, the vehicle rolled 2 1/2 times, at one time hitting a tree. The vehicle came to a rest on its top. Puente was ejected from the vehicle and thrown approximately 40 feet north landing in a field. She was taken to Jackson County Memorial Hospital in stable condition with head, trunk, arm and leg injuries. Seatbelts were not in use. The accident was investigated by Chris Sherman of the Jackson County detachment of Troop M and was assisted by Jackson County EMS, Jackson County Sheriff’s Department and the Altus Fire Department.
