The Frederick Chamber of Commerce, in cooperation with area experts in the cotton industry, and the Pioneer Townsite Museum will host a Cotton Festival Saturday, Nov. 8 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Pioneer Heritage Townsite in downtown Frederick.

Come learn all about cotton, and it's importance to the area, as well as it's historical significance. There will be many educational displays to view, and all of the Townsite Museum's displays will be open as well.

Other cotton festival activities will include Pioneer games for children (10 a.m. to noon), cotton crafts, a cake walk (11 a.m. to 2 p.m.), bingo with prizes (noon to 2 p.m.), farm equipment, tractor and educational displays all day, door prizes (1 p.m. to 3 p.m.), live entertainment (11 a.m. to 3 p.m.), and free tours of the Red River Cotton Gin and the Oklahoma Cotton Cooperative Association Cotton Texoma Warehouse starting at 10:15 a.m. Transportation will be provided.

Also that day, in honor of Veteran’s Day, a Veteran's recognition Ceremony will be held on the stage at 11:30 a.m. Live entertainment will begin at 11 a.m. with Wichita Mountain Bluegrass, and also will include the Little Miss Cotton Boll and Maid of Cotton starting at 1 p.m.

New this year is the Chamber’s Chili Cook Off. The Chamber will provide the meat, all you need to do is provide the recipe and cooking.

Register your team by calling the Chamber at 580-335-2126. The winner will receive a trophy, which will have to be defended next year! Voting will be done by the public, tickets will be sold for $5 which will include chili samples, then all you can eat from your favorite chili cooker. In addition, the Chamber will offer corn dogs cooked in cottonseed oil, popcorn, cotton candy, doughnuts cooked in cottonseed oil, and caramel apples.
